Hull Design

JC Evolution & TriToon hulls and nosecones are constructed of .125 marine grade aluminum ... the strongest in the industry. In addition, the SuperTube used in all SunToons is constructed of .091 marine grade aluminum with the nosecones made of heavy-duty .100 marine grade aluminum.

The U-Shaped SuperTube used on all SunToons gives you floatation when you need it. When your boat is loaded at it's heaviest, the U-shaped tube delivers greater flotation in the second or upper half than in the lower. You never carry water on top of a U-shaped tube. On a round tube, your floatation decreases in the second or upper half because you begin to carry water weight from the decreasing radius.

The flat top of the U-shaped SuperTube bolts directly (SS Bolts and locking nuts) to the flat surface of the deck cross members. No "saddle brackets" are necessary. This construction eliminates the "flex" of round tube pontoon boats and gives the JC a solid feel cutting through the waves.

The U-Shaped tube is based on a canoe shape or the shape used in Catamaran sailboats. This shape is more efficient through the water than is a cylinder.

"Another observation that has emerged over many pontoon tests is this: There is a vast difference between pontoon shapes and designs and that difference becomes more apparent as the speed increases. For some years I was reluctant to enter the argument about round versus "U" shaped pontoons but today I am ready to enter the fray. For performance, I believe that "U" shaped logs are the better design at any speed and that, as the speed increases, the supremacy of the "U" shaped log grows exponentially."

TT Hulls.
Three SuperTubes with center transom integrated into the tube and standard aluminum bottom skin.

The three tube TT hulls are an excellent midpoint between the traditional twin tube pontoon and the awesome TriToon. By adding a third SuperTube to the standard SunToon or NepToon hulls, there is a significant improvement in several areas. There is half again the flotation supporting the pontoon. This is important for boaters that regularly carry large groups on their boat. The rough water ride is greatly enhanced with the added rigidity of the third tube. The third tube allows a greater horsepower rating for higher speeds and better performance when skiing and tubing. The TT's ride higher in the water, so acceleration is much faster than a traditional twin tube boat. For a relatively small price difference, the TT hull delivers a tremendous added value to the "performance" pontoon buyer.

TriToon Hull.
When we developed the TriToon hull design over twenty years ago, it offered a level of acceleration, handling and stability unknown in the pontoon industry. The legendary TriToon uses a durable .125 gauge aluminum trihull design to produce a ride better than the finest fiberglass deck boat. In the past twenty years, many have tried to copy our TriToon design, but no one has duplicated the solid construction and superior performance that is unique to the JC TriToon®.

The unibody hull of the TriToon is a unique design that actually allows the powerful TriToon to plane over the top of the water and handle like a deck boat. The large center tube extends beyond the smaller, asymmetrical side tubes. As the TriToon accelerates, the bow wave from the center tube is forced into tunnels between tubes. Water then pushes the asymmetrical planing surfaces up and the boat is instantly on plane. The TriToon performance must be experienced to be believed. Many companies (including JC with the TT models) are building a "three tube" model. In most cases, these three tube models offer performance that is superior to a "two-tube" model. However, NO "three-tube" pontoon boat can perform like the one and only TriToon.
